Christchurch Conversations: Alan Pert

REMAKING: Unlocking Long-term Regeneration

For more than 20 years Alan Pert has been working with communities to transform stalled development sites and empty buildings into successful places. Alan is an acclaimed architect and a civic leader. While his finished designs have won him architectural awards, it has been his innovative processes that unlock regeneration. He works alongside clients and communities to generate inventive solutions in terms of use, the business model and the financing of a place. His work is proof that good design does not have to be expensive. Alan shared examples of his work and processes on 23 Feb 2016 that stimulated and inspired our own aspirations for long-term regeneration in Christchurch.

Alan Pert is an architect and Professor of Architecture at Melbourne University. He founded leading architecture practice NORD in 2002.

Christchurch Conversations is presented by Christchurch City Council, in association withTe Pūtahi – Christchurch centre for architecture and city-making. Alan Pert’s Conversation is supported by the New Zealand Institute of Architects (Canterbury Branch) and the Urban Design Forum.
