Project Director Anne Cunningham

Anne Cunningham’s background combines the governance and management of cultural charities with several decades working in participatory development, particularly in cultural activism, architecture and urbanism. Until 2013 she was Director of the The Art House, a national UK arts organisation with a focus on equality. She led them through a significant evolution- including fundraising $8million and developing 40 additional studios and exhibition, retail and workshop space. Prior to that she spent 10yrs working at the Lighthouse, Scotland’s Centre for Architecture, Design and the City. Her participatory work was cited to UNESCO and OECD, had a significant impact on government policy. She then acted as a consultant internationally- including running projects in Mexico, Poland and Finland and being a founding member of PLAYCE, an international network of professionals engaging young people in design.

From 2015-2016 Anne was one of the founding co-directors of Te Pūtahi. She is now working with Te Pūtahi as the Project Director for With Care in Place and in 2017 starts her PhD.
